Light in Astronomy 2016
from14 November 2016 to 19 November 2016
On the occasion of the national week Light in Astronomy 2016, a project by the National Institute of Astrophysics, the Astronomical Observatory of Cagliari also opens its doors to schools and the public of all ages.
The event, called AstrinLuce 2016, will take place at the new headquarters of the Observatory, in Selargius at Via della Scienza 5.
Every morning, from Monday, November 14 to Saturday, November 19, 2016, will be dedicated exclusively to schools, with educational workshops (some of which are truly new and experimental like “Galileo in Free Fall” by Pietro Olla of the cultural association “Le strade di Macondo”, or the workshop “Smack: Machines for Doodling” by Sara Ricciardi, IASF-Bologna), the treasure hunt “Astrokids: Explorers of the Galaxy” by Silvia Casu, planetarium shows (by Sabrina Milia and Noemi Iacolina), tours of the facility and much more, such as the conference “Extreme Astronomy in X-Rays” by Matteo Bachetti, OAC researcher.
The afternoons, starting at 5 PM, will be dedicated to the general public and require reservations. There will be fun and educational workshops for children, visits to the museum and technological laboratories of SRT, the pride of the new Selargius headquarters, visits to the Sardinia Radio Telescope (in San Basilio), scientific conferences by our researchers (“A Universe of Whys” by Francesca Loi and “Hamlet’s Mill: Astronomy and Scientific Thought” by Paolo Soletta).
There will also be a training session for teachers on tinkering techniques (“Tinkering, the New Frontier of Learning“, by Sara Ricciardi), a science show (“Albert Einstein and Contagious Creativity“, by Alessia Zurru, and finally, the theatrical performance “By Jove! Me and Ganymede and” by and with Ignazio Porceddu and Elio Turno Arthemalle, featuring the voice of Rossella Faa and the guitar of Giacomo Deiana.
It’s impossible not to find something exciting!
