AstrinLuce 2015. The week dedicated to light at the Cagliari Astronomical Observatory.

It’s called “AstrinLuce” the event organized by the Cagliari Astronomical Observatory as part of the Light in Astronomy week that INAF dedicates to celebrating the importance of light.

The year 2015 is indeed the International Year of Light (IYL2015), and the astronomical world certainly couldn’t miss this important event.

The “AstrinLuce” event will take place in Selargius, at the new headquarters of the Cagliari Astronomical Observatory, on via della Scienza 5, from November 9 to 13, 2015.
Five days of events with schools (in the morning) and with the general public, an opportunity to talk with researchers and technologists from the Observatory, to discover the properties and importance of light in astronomical research, to visit the new headquarters of the Observatory and the spaces dedicated to outreach and education.

The program includes lectures, educational workshops for elementary and middle schools, theatrical performances and shows at the Planetarium as well as visits to the Sardinia Radio Telescope and the state-of-the-art technology development laboratories in Selargius.

Moreover, at OAC, there will be an exhibition dedicated to the Rosetta space mission, kindly provided by the Italian Space Agency (ASI), developed to explain the mission and the tasks of its lander Philae in studying the origin and composition of comets.
The exhibition, which consists of display panels on the Rosetta mission and comets and two scale models of Rosetta and Philae, will be accompanied by a lecture for schools by Dr. Mario Saletti (ASI).

The morning events are dedicated to schools, while those in the afternoon/evening are for the general public.

The “AstrinLuce” event is also held in collaboration with the Cagliari FestivalScienza 2015: some activities (a lecture by Marta Burgay on Friday, November 13, and educational workshops by Silvia Casu and Sabrina Milia on Sunday, November 15) will therefore be held in the city context of the Festival (Il Ghetto and ExMa’).

Check out the program of the week and enjoy the light!
