Today, May 11, 2023, marks the opening of the first edition of the Aerospace Festival in Olbia, an outreach event for the public, schools, and businesses organized by ASTEC – AeroSpace Technology Education Center based in the Gallura city. The program, quite rich, features two parallel tracks. On one side, there are meetings, conferences, and debates led by the main stakeholders, both public and private, in the aerospace world with internationally significant contributions (such as the one from astronaut Paolo Nespoli), and on the other, a series of educational workshops for school groups.
The INAF-Osservatorio Astronomico di Cagliari will be present on both tracks with contributions from Tonino Pisanu, head of the technological laboratories dedicated to the Sardinia Radio Telescope, and Emilio Molinari, director of INAF-OAC. For the little ones, there will be the workshop “Let’s Build SRT!” curated by Paolo Soletta, a science journalist and press officer of the observatory. Those who follow us regularly might be wondering why, especially at an event that includes outreach for schools and “women and STEM” in its program, Silvia Casu isn’t present. Our researcher has flown to Canada to present her new work in the STEM field at the Astroedu international conference of the International Astronomical Union, held in Toronto, Canada, on the exact same days.
