These are the topics that will be covered at the international meeting “The Astro-Tourism in Europe: An increasing Business“, which will take place in Brussels on June 16.

At the event, organized as part of the European project “Cooperation projects to create transnational tourism products
based on cultural and industrial heritage – SKYROUTE”, tourism routes related to astronomical themes and/or locations developed by various European partners cooperating in the project will be presented.

The INAF-Osservatorio di Cagliari will also participate, presenting various routes identified that develop from the connection between ancient Sardinia, particularly Nuragic, and Sardinia’s cutting-edge technology in scientific themes.

The routes to be presented obviously revolve around the Sardinia Radio Telescope site and the city headquarters of the Osservatorio di Cagliari, but Sardinia offers much more from an astronomical point of view. Hence the connections between SRT and the megalithic site of Pranu Mutteddu, as well as the Nuragic complex of Barumini and the astronomical area of the Sardinia in Miniature park, the Nuraghe of Orroli and the Lanusei observatory, or even the INAF-OAC headquarters in Selargius and the Planetarium of the Unione Sarda.

In short, Sardinia as an ideal place for the sea, history, food, nature trails, and also for its, for now, beautiful sky.
