To optimize technical coordination and ensure consistency across the entire national territory for the Italian Astronomy Olympics, the Organizing Committee has decided to postpone the deadline for submitting the preselection essay to midnight on November 24, 2014.
Therefore, students born between 1998 and 2001 who wish to participate in the competition have a few extra weeks to prepare for the first test, which involves writing an essay titled:
“2015 has been proclaimed by the UN as the ‘International Year of Light.’ Light is the messenger that astronomers have used for the longest time to gather information about the nature of the Cosmos. How do astronomers use light today to study the universe? What are the main modern astronomical instruments?”
To write their essays, students can use the Dossier on light prepared by the Committee.
All the information needed to participate, including the announcement and related attachments, can be found on the Olympics website.
Good luck to everyone!
