It is with immense sadness that we learn of the tragic and sudden death of the researcher, colleague, and friend, Gianluigi Zanetti.

Gianluigi (“Zag” to his friends) worked at CRS4, where he led the Advanced Computing and Communications program and the Distributed Computing and Biomedical Computing workgroups.

Over the years, he collaborated extensively with researchers from INAF-OAC, and was therefore well known to many of us.

“I knew Gianluigi from the time of the founding of the Regional Supercomputing Consortium Cybersar,” recalls the president of INAF (and former director of INAF-OAC) Nichi D’Amico, “I always appreciated his high scientific and human level. A tragic loss for everyone.”

Director Emilio Molinari and the entire OAC staff express their condolences and join in the grief of Gianluigi’s family and colleagues at CRS4.
