There are ten Sardinian students, one in the Junior category and 9 in the Senior category, who passed the pre-selection phase in November and have thus been admitted to the interregional round of the Astronomy Olympiad. On Monday, February 22, the students will compete in a series of astronomy exercises, simultaneously with other regions of Italy, aiming to advance to the national phase which will take place on April 20 in Milan.
Chiara Schiavone (Scientific High School of Tortolì), Matteo Carta (G. Marconi Scientific High School, Sassari), Federico Efisio Cordeddu, Emanuele Dessì, and Riccardo Lodo (Pythagoras Scientific High School, Selargius), Sara Deiana, Kristel Lasio, Marco Mulas, Nicola Elia Santandrea, and Gaia Serra (Euclid Scientific High School, Cagliari) are therefore summoned on February 22, 2016, at the headquarters of the Cagliari Astronomical Observatory, via della Scienza 5, Selargius, at 2:00 PM for participant identification procedures; the test will begin at 2:30 PM simultaneously at all Italian locations and will last for 2 and a half hours.
We remind the students that on the official website of the Italian Astronomy Olympiad, they can find materials and past tests to prepare, and that the Cagliari Observatory organizes three preparation meetings for them on-site, on January 27, February 9, and February 11.
