Starting June 1, 2017, Dr. Emilio Molinari will be the new director of the Astronomical Observatory of Cagliari, succeeding Dr. Andrea Possenti. The official announcement was made today, May 24, 2017, on the INAF website, confirming the appointment by the President and the Board of Directors.
Molinari, in addition to participating in numerous international technological and research projects, is currently the director of the Galileo National Telescope, an INAF observational facility located in the Canary Islands.
All the staff at the Observatory would first like to thank the outgoing director Andrea Possenti for the great work done over the years during a delicate phase of transition and development of the Observatory, and congratulate the new director, wishing him the best of luck in his new role.
“There will be an even brighter future full of positive developments for the Observatory, which will be in excellent hands,” says Possenti, currently in Rome and reached by phone, adding that he also wants “to thank all the staff for the work made possible in recent years. If the Cagliari Observatory has become a structure of national and international importance, it is thanks to all those who have worked towards fully achieving the goals.”
