The INAF exhibition Time Machines in Rome

Time Machines is an exhibition conceived by the National Institute of Astrophysics to showcase Italian astrophysics and astronomy. It will appeal to both young and old, enthusiasts and those curious about the subject.

What awaits you is a journey to discover the universe, designed to reveal the new frontiers of modern astrophysics and the Italian contributions behind the latest major discoveries and incredible images of the cosmos.
It will be a popular exhibition featuring images, sounds, and words that emerge through the best available technologies, with a modern, accessible, and inclusive language. A journey that will introduce the public to the main Italian Research Institute for the study of the universe, aiming to play between the old and the new, with an ’80s style but with content that speaks of today and tomorrow.
A journey made possible by the futuristic time machines created by humans to observe ever closer to the beginning of everything, from the most remote places on the planet and from space. Large telescopes and impressive infrastructures are the result of Italian ingenuity and the research conducted at INAF observatories by men and women who, with dedication and passion, contribute daily to pushing the boundaries of human knowledge ever further.

The exhibition opens on November 25, 2023 and is hosted at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome.

During the four months of the exhibition, high-level cultural meetings will be organized at Palazzo Esposizioni Rome, featuring prominent names in astrophysical and space research, as well as scientific aperitifs and other informal and original events, poetry slam competitions, and debates with intellectuals and politicians active in the cultural field.
