Initially known as “Asperger’s syndrome,” high-functioning autism is gradually receiving more attention. This talk summarizes the recent characterization of high-functioning autism presented in the DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) and places it in the context of everyday astronomical research.
