Innovation and technology transfer processes have become crucial factors for the modern economy, where wealth generation is based on the development of Knowledge in a global competitive context (known as the knowledge-based economy). Contemporary astrophysical research has also taken on global dimensions, characterized by a volume of investments, in terms of human and financial resources, significant enough to have a considerable impact on the economic system. This impact occurs through the innovation and technology transfer processes triggered as a by-product of developing technologies for observing the Universe. The seminar will therefore illustrate the state of the art of the Entity’s innovation policies, the tools it has equipped itself with to manage this aspect of its mission in the challenging context of 21st-century Astrophysics.
