Formazione stellare di stelle di grande massa. Processi chimico-fisici nel mezzo interstellare
One area of research of our group focuses on young stellar objects and the molecular environment in which they form. We are mostly interested in understanding the processes leading to the formation of massive stars (M > 8 Msun)
With their strong outflows during their formation, their winds and UV radiation and, at the end of their lifes, powerful supernova explosions, massive stars shape the evolution and fate of galaxies. Nevertheless, the processes connected to their formation are still far from being clear.

Our main research topics are:
 - the role of filaments in the process of star formation
 - study of the youngest phases of massive star formation
 - Jets and molecular outflows in massive young stellar objects
 - Chemistry of dense gas: chemical evolution during the process of star formation, chemical clocks

Our research is mostly observationally based, with a strong interest on high velocity resolution spectroscopic data. We use telescopes operating at a large range of wavelenghts, from the cm- to the (sub)-mm regime. Typical instruments used for our purposes are single-dish radiotelescopes (e.g., SRT, IRAM 30-m, APEX, SOFIA), interferometers (eg., JVLA, IRAM-NOEMA, ALMA), and satellites (Herschel, JWST in the next future).
