The Library of the Astronomical Station of Cagliari inherited the bibliographic heritage of the Astronomical Station of Carloforte and has acquired over the years, following donations and purchases from antiquarians, a considerable heritage of volumes of historical interest in various fields of science and culture.

The Catalogue of Ancient Texts includes works published from 1552 to 1899 for a total of 224 volumes that cover various disciplines, most of which are of astronomical interest: astronomy, meteorology, physics, optics and mathematics but also literature, philosophy, religion. The works are ordered by publication date, adopting the RICA rules (Italian Author Cataloging Rules) for cataloging, and the ISBD(A) (International Standard Bibliographic Description Antiquaian) for punctuation, adapting them to display needs.
