International committee for radioastronomy visits OAC and SRT

On November 17 and 18, an international committee visited the OAC and SRT site to review ours scientific and technological activities.
On November 17 and 18, the INAF-OAC and SRT scientific and technological activities have been reviewed by an International Committee for Radioastronomy.

The Committee, composed of professor Phil Diamond (Director of the Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics and Director General of the SKA Organisation), professor Andrea Ferrara (Full professor at the Scuola Normale di Pisa and member of the INAF CdA, IT), professor Mike Garrett (General Director of the Dutch astronomy research foundation ASTRON, NL) and, in skype connection, professor Anton Zensus (Director and Head of the Research Department "Radio Astronomy/VLBI" at the Max Planck Institut fur Radioastronomie, DE) during the two days visited the OAC and SRT facilities and interviewed all the personnel (permanent and temporary) in order to verify the quality of scientific and technological activities of all groups.

Moreover, the Director of the Catania Observatory (Dr.Grazia Umana) joined the OAC staff to present the status of the IRA-Noto Facility.
































The week before, the Committee visited the IRA and Medicina sites. Their visits and interviews conclusions will result in a document for the INAF President, aimed to present the status of the Italian Radio astronomy and to give some suggestions on possible strenghtening actions.
