SKA1 Project Status update

The SKA1 project is aiming to start the construction of the telescope in July this year. This milestone is only one of the many important milestones achieved in the last very dense couple of years, including the creation, in Feb this year, of the SKAO, the intergovernmental organisation that will run the Observatory for the next 50 years. The talk will go quickly through the latest important milestones of the project and it will usher you what is next. In a few words, new challenges and new opportunities.

 

Brief CV of Dr. Luca Stringhetti:

Luca Stringhetti got his physics degree in Milano. After a firs experience in designing broadcasting antenna for industry for 8 years, in the last 18 years he had the privilege to be involved in several projects covering the roles of Systems Engineer, Commissioning Manager, or Technical coordinator. These project includes the Planck LFI mission, the Atomic Clock in Space (ACES), the Technical Commissioning of SRT, and the prototype of the Small Telescope for the CTA project. Currently he is covering the role of SKA1 Project Engineer in the SKAO Headquarters in UK.
