Why Study Pulsar Wind Nebulae?

Why Study Pulsar Wind Nebulae?

The majority of core collapse supernova are believed to produce a neutron star, whose rotational energy powers an extremely relativistic pulsar wind whose interaction with the surroundings creates a pulsar wind nebula.  In this talk, I will demonstrate how pulsar wind nebula can be used to study a wide range of high-energy phenomena: from the physics of core-collapse supenovae to the creation and acceleration of extremely high energy leptons.
