Even today, gender equality, despite the achievements of recent years at local, national, and international levels, including within the scientific community, remains heavily influenced by stereotypes, and women continue to be marginalized in research, scientific publications, and various other fields. In this context, the Association announces the fourth edition of the &#8220;Woman of Science&#8221; Award in Sardinia for the year 2022.  <\/p>\n<p>The award is organized in collaboration with the Universities of Cagliari and Sassari, INAF and the Astronomical Observatory of Cagliari, the Cagliari section of INFN, the Cagliari branch of the CNR Institute of Neurosciences, the Equal Opportunities Department of the Municipality of Cagliari, and Gi.U.Li.A. Journalists Sardinia. The award aims to recognize female figures who have contributed to bringing prestige and advancements to Sardinia in the scientific field.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who it&#8217;s for<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The award is aimed at women born or working in Sardinia or for Sardinia, who have carried out activities in the field of scientific research, science education, and the dissemination of scientific culture, also through the use of media. Within the Award, the Equal Opportunities Department of the Municipality of Cagliari offers the Young Woman of Science Award aimed at Cagliari candidates participating in the Award. Other recognitions may be awarded to candidates meeting certain requirements. In particular, the jury reserves the right to award a Special Prize to women who, starting from a scientific background, have particularly distinguished themselves in academic paths, scientific entrepreneurship, and public life. The jury reserves the right to award, even in the absence of an application, one or more special mentions to female figures who have achieved significant results in the scientific or technological field.    <\/p>\n<p><strong>Submission methods<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applications can be submitted by the person interested in receiving the award or by third parties such as the president of the ScienzaSociet\u00e0Scienza Association, the directors of the university departments of Cagliari and Sassari, the directors of the INFN Cagliari section, INAF-OAC, the CNR Institute of Neurosciences; the school principals of Sardinian schools, the regional representatives for the Sardinia Region of scientific discipline teacher associations, such as A.I.F., A.N.I.S.N., C.R.S.E.M., the Didactic Division of S.C.I., the coordinator of Gi.U.Li.A. Journalists Sardinia, the winners of previous editions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applications must be received by 1:00 PM on July 10, 2022, by email at <\/strong>premiodonnascienza@gmail.com<strong> indicating in the subject &#8220;Woman of Science Award \u2013 Candidate&#8217;s Name and Surname&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The application or proposal for admission to the competition must be made electronically using the appropriate downloadable form attached to the notice, duly signed by the proposer or the competitor. Each competitor (or proposer) must attach, always electronically and preferably in a single pdf file: <\/p>\n<p>The candidate&#8217;s resume.<br \/>\nA clear description of the reasons for the application and, in particular, the candidate&#8217;s connection with science and Sardinia.<br \/>\nA commitment to provide a statement in which the candidate consents, pursuant to Legislative Decree 196\/03, that her personal data will be used by the award organizers for reasons related to the execution of the same and that they will be processed also by electronic means, but not disclosed to others. The form to be completed and signed is attached to the notice.<br \/>\nAny other document deemed useful for the competition.  <\/p>\n<p>Late submission of the application and related documentation, regardless of the cause, will result in the ineligibility of the applicant for the competition. Applications lacking the required documentation will not be considered. <\/p>\n<p>Applications submitted by the date indicated in this notice are valid for two years and may therefore be considered also in the award edition for the year 2023.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Selection methods<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The selection of applications is at the sole discretion of the specially constituted jury.<\/p>\n<p>The jury is chaired by a member of the ScienzaSociet\u00e0Scienza Association specially appointed by the Association&#8217;s Board of Directors and is composed of representatives from the Universities of Cagliari and Sassari, media and school representatives, and representatives of public research bodies.<\/p>\n<p>The jury will consider the following evaluation criteria:<\/p>\n<p>The level of scientific depth of the activity carried out<br \/>\nThe level of internationality of the activity carried out<br \/>\nThe level of attention to science education and dissemination.<br \/>\nThe level of public engagement in the activity carried out<br \/>\nThe impact of the activity carried out on Sardinia<br \/>\nA training path in scientific disciplines<\/p>\n<p>The Young Woman of Science Award will be given to the most deserving and youngest researcher from Cagliari by birth, residence, or workplace. The merit evaluation will be made within the criteria established above. Any other recognitions will also be awarded to the most deserving within the criteria established above and meeting the required requirement. Jury members cannot have direct family ties with the candidates. Upon taking office, each juror will issue a specific declaration on their position regarding the candidates.    <\/p>\n<p><strong>Awards<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The winner of the Woman of Science Award will receive a cash prize of \u20ac2,000 gross of legal deductions and a commemorative certificate from the ScienzaSociet\u00e0Scienza Association. The winner of the Young Woman of Science Award will receive a cash prize of \u20ac1,000 gross of legal deductions and a commemorative certificate from the Municipality of Cagliari. The winners of any other awards will receive a cash prize, the amount of which is not quantifiable at the moment, and a commemorative certificate from the proposing body. The jury&#8217;s special award will consist of an artisanal artistic artifact and a commemorative plaque. The recipients of the special mention will receive a commemorative plaque. The awards are not cumulative.     <\/p>\n<p><strong>Award ceremony<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The awards will be presented in person to the winners at the ceremony to be held during the Cagliari FestivalScienza XV edition at the EXMA in Cagliari from November 10 to 13, 2022. If due to force majeure the award ceremony must be held virtually or the winner cannot attend in person, she must connect via videoconference. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Information<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All information related to the Award can be found on the website www.festivalscienzacagliari.it. The winners commit to being present at the award ceremony. Participation in the award implies knowledge and full acceptance of the notice. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Information regarding the processing of personal data (art. 13, Reg. EU 2016\/679)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We inform you that the processing of data will be carried out in compliance with the regulations provided by EU regulation 2016\/679, art. 13, and the consequent rights and obligations. The personal data of the candidates will be used by the award organizers solely for reasons related to the execution of the same.
