{"id":3865,"date":"2020-09-15T20:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-09-15T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.oa-cagliari.inaf.it\/nichi-damico-has-suddenly-passed-away\/"},"modified":"2020-09-15T20:00:00","modified_gmt":"2020-09-15T18:00:00","slug":"nichi-damico-has-suddenly-passed-away","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oa-cagliari.inaf.it\/en\/nichi-damico-has-suddenly-passed-away\/","title":{"rendered":"Nichi D&#8217;Amico Has Suddenly Passed Away"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today, September 15, 2020, <strong>Nichi D\u2019Amico<\/strong> has suddenly passed away.<\/p>\n<p>It is a sad day for all of INAF, but for us at the Astronomical Observatory of Cagliari, it is even more painful because Nichi D\u2019Amico was &#8220;our&#8221; president, the one who, despite his constant commitments in Rome, lived in Sardinia, frequently visited our offices, and &#8220;oversaw&#8221; his Sardinia Radio Telescope.<\/p>\n<p>Without his skill and determination, the technological gem marked INAF would never have seen the light of day.
