On the occasion of the national week Light in Astronomy 2016<\/strong>, a project by the National Institute of Astrophysics, the Astronomical Observatory of Cagliari also opens its doors to schools and the public of all ages.<\/p>\n

The event, called AstrinLuce 2016<\/strong>, will take place at the new headquarters of the Observatory, in Selargius at Via della Scienza 5.<\/p>\n

Every morning, from Monday, November 14 to Saturday, November 19, 2016, will be dedicated exclusively to schools, with educational workshops<\/strong> (some of which are truly new and experimental like “Galileo in Free Fall<\/em><\/strong>” by Pietro Olla of the cultural association “Le strade di Macondo”, or the workshop “Smack: Machines for Doodling<\/em><\/strong>” by Sara Ricciardi, IASF-Bologna), the treasure hunt<\/strong> “Astrokids: Explorers of the Galaxy<\/strong>” by Silvia Casu, planetarium shows<\/strong> (by Sabrina Milia and Noemi Iacolina), tours of the facility<\/strong> and much more, such as the conference “Extreme Astronomy in X-Rays”<\/strong><\/em> by Matteo Bachetti, OAC researcher. <\/p>\n

The afternoons, starting at 5 PM, will be dedicated to the general public and require reservations. There will be fun and educational workshops for children<\/strong>, visits to the museum and technological laboratories<\/strong> of SRT, the pride of the new Selargius headquarters, visits to the Sardinia Radio Telescope<\/strong> (in San Basilio), scientific conferences<\/strong> by our researchers (“A Universe of Whys”<\/strong><\/em> by Francesca Loi and “Hamlet’s Mill: Astronomy and Scientific Thought”<\/strong><\/em> by Paolo Soletta). <\/p>\n

There will also be a training session for teachers<\/strong> on tinkering techniques (“Tinkering, the New Frontier of Learning<\/em><\/strong>“, by Sara Ricciardi), a science show<\/strong> (“Albert Einstein and Contagious Creativity<\/em><\/strong>“, by Alessia Zurru, and finally, the theatrical performance<\/strong> “By Jove! Me and Ganymede <\/strong><\/em>and<\/strong>” by and with Ignazio Porceddu and Elio Turno Arthemalle, featuring the voice of Rossella Faa and the guitar of Giacomo Deiana.<\/p>\n

There are many partners in the initiative: the Municipality of Selargius<\/strong>, the Autonomous Region of Sardinia<\/strong>, the Euclide Scientific High School<\/strong> of Cagliari (which will feature 12 of its students as protagonists of the event through a School-Work Alternation project), the Impossible Theater Association<\/strong> of Elio Turno Arthemalle, the association Le Strade di Macondo<\/strong> by Pietro Olla, the Science Laboratory Association<\/strong> by Alessia Zurru.<\/p>\n
